The stone that defined an architectural style

Mar del Plata is a quartzite that has been mostly utilised as a building stone for over 50 years. Its application in the building of homes in the renowned beach resort city of Mar del Plata throughout the 1930s and 1950s produced a unique architectural style. The use of this stone quickly expanded to other regions of the nation due to its availability and durability. This stone has also been used for monuments and sculptures. The Mar del Plata architectural style, which is now a part of Argentina’s cultural legacy, symbolises the emergence of the middle class and the ability of the populace to afford to build their own homes in a style distinct from the palaces built by wealthy people using imported stone. The Jesuits erected churches, residences, and other structures in the 1600s, which is when Argentina’s earliest buildings were built.
