The 4th International IUGS Heritage Stone Workshop. 14-17th July. Dublin

The 4th International Heritage Stone Workshop of the IUGS Subcommission on Heritage Stone will be held at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland between 14th -17th July 2025 and is a sequel of previous workshops held in Salamanca (2018), Turin (2021) and Jaipur (2023).

This Workshop aims to encourage nominations of Heritage Stones around the globe and focus on the craft practitioners who quarried stone and fabricated it for decoration and structural use in buildings. Both of these areas are rather underplayed at present and deserve better attention to ensure stone sustainability.

The Workshop is convened by Louise Caulfield & Patrick Wyse Jackson and will consist of 20-minute presentations and two days of excursions to visit quarries and important heritage buildings Black built in Irish Limestone and Leinster Granite.

The convenors encourage submission of abstracts covering the theme of the workshop and topics related to other Heritage Stone studies.
